The NWS provides a free API for anyone to use weather data. When I was in school, I built a weather forecast app and we used this API. It’s used in your phone.
If the NWS is dismantled and privatized… imagine paying a fee to get the forecast or to know when a storm is heading your way???

NOAA is probably best known for pumping out local forecasts through its National Weather Service -- but the agency does much more than that.
