Politically, environmentally, technologically and socially up the creek. Hoping for a change but not for the worse.. Getting older looking for new ways of aging in place. Masking in crowded public places.

Today would have been Harold Steggles' 115th birthday as he was born on 8th February 1911. Very sadly, he died, tragically young, of leukaemia, aged just 60 on 13th October 1971. I have attached a few examples of his work along with a lovely photo of him. #HaroldSteggles #botd #EastLondonGroup

There’s a v cynical media and political blindspot in the Epstein shitshow. A feeding frenzy to get rid of Starmer while red-carpeting Farage into No10. Who is named in the files. As is Candy, Reform’s treasurer. With Bannon. And Brexit.
Don’t cry about abuses of power and then do nothing about him.

🌀 CO₂ thresholds matter...
In essence, the study emphasises that, 'clean indoor air matters because good ventilation reduces the build‑up of exhaled pollutants - including viruses - keeping people healthier, safer and more comfortable'.

Remembering Titanic lookout Frederick Fleet who, sadly, took his own life on this day in 1965 in the garden of 8 Norman Road, Southampton. His wife had recently passed away and he was in the process of being evicted from his lodgings.

I have a request, please, friends of Bluesky... I have written an app for Android that helps you find crossword answers. I need 9 people, please, to test it on their devices for a couple of weeks (Google's policy). It will cost you nothing and I will be eternally grateful if you can help. Please!

Titanic crew lived in my road too.
See Oxford Street and the rest of Southampton on my interactive Titanic Crew Map, which shows all the crew members who either lived or lodged in Southampton prior to the voyage: historicsouthampton.co.uk/crew/

Thanks for the links. As someone who retired and spent four years looking after parents 100 miles away from my home and who is now getting to that era myself I take a personal interest and do not see anything improving quite the opposite.

@mrjamesob.bsky.social Your guest on right now is right. I have seen ads showing nurses masking up but wearing baggy blues which are useless as they give the pretence of protection.

My org @fightforthefuture.org has been “de-googling” for the last year.

We’re totally off Google suite, Google docs, Drive, Calendar.

We’re using Signal and Element for chat, Nextcloud for docs, etc

Planning to publish a “how to” guide for other nonprofits and activist groups soonish.

With some very welcome sunshine here this morning, I thought that a "bright" image might be appropriate. This is "Canvey Island" by Walter Steggles from 1933. This is one of at least four different oils by him with the same title but, to date, it is the only known survivor. #WalterSteggles
