Just passing through. It appears we may be more than a few tweaks away from being a healthy society

Pay attention to this. The purpose of these investigations is not just to manufacture evidence to support Trump’s 2020 “voter fraud” accusations, but also to set the stage for another round of efforts to suppress votes and delegitimize election results in 2026 (which the GOP is likely to lose).
1/ NEW: @propublica.org has obtained a search warrant that the FBI is executing for records related to the contested 2020 election in Fulton County, Ga., which has not yet been widely shared. It’s an extraordinary document.

SCOOP: Nursing home companies donated $4.8M to Trump's super PAC in Aug-Sept.

Their executives landed a lunch in Aug. with Trump at his NoVa golf club where they asked him to revoke a rule to increase staffing to prevent patient neglect.

His administration revoked the rule a few months later.

Stephen Miller, Not (Just) Kristi Noem and Greg Bovino, Must Be Held Accountable - emptywheel
The right wing wants to blame Kristi Noem's propaganda failures for the cratering legitimacy of Stephen Miller's deportation regime. If they want to scapegoat, let's make sure they include Miller as w...

Agree with his politics or not, but Mamdani is the best practicing politician in the country right now.
Mamdani made a 90 sec. video discussing when and how the roads would be plowed, crediting the workforce that makes it possible, reminding owners they must shovel, reminding trash may be delayed, saying there’d be a decision about school by noon, and telling kids it’s fine to hit him with snowballs.

Once you let thugs get control of government agencies and institutions it’s very difficult to get rid of them. We have a short window.

This is from the NYT masthead editorial about the murders of Renee Good and Alex Pretti. The highlighted line invalidates not just the editorial, but the very idea of newspaper editorials crafted by the consensus of a board. Better to publish nothing at all than to publish a line like this.

People like Joel Berry are absolutely enraged right now. They perceive the rightness of the surge of anger against Trumpism and the decency and righteousness of people like Alex Pretti. They cannot endure those things, because they know they are petty, grubby, immoral, and sordid in comparison.
At 7:04 PM yesterday, Babylon Bee Managing Editor Joel Berry told his 164K followers that “If Trump doubles down, invokes the Insurrection Act, crushes these feral Communist riots, and arrests the leaders responsible, his popularity will go up 10 points.” 1/ x.com/joelwberry/s...

I was a sensitive kid. I loved cats. I had OCD, undiagnosed.

When I was 9, a fraternity brother tortured a cat to death in my hometown. The details even now are beyond imagination. archive.is/xdmUL

I was traumatized for years from reading the news story.

The torturer? Now the head of the NRA.

The gun was removed by agents from his waistband - he was never pointing it at them. He was already disarmed when they fired "defensive shots," killing the man. They then fired several shots at his lifeless body.
