I think the very earliest version of BEAUTY AND THE BEAST I remember was a fairy tale book illustrated by Victor Ambrus and that probably coloured my thoughts on all subsequent adaptation!

Compelled to leap in and recommend “Grabbers“, a small, charming Irish film. It falls into a similar genre as Shawn of the Dead with far less gore – it’s a horror/romantic comedy! :)
