Web developer and dad of several kids and cats. Trying to be my best self, build a better world, find joy while screwing around… that sort of thing.
There are specific reasons for this that most of us somewhat agree on. But I kind of wonder if those specifics are mainly circumstantial, and that humanity has some sort of Tower of Babel failsafe built into the system that just kicks in and knocks us back a few spaces when we get too dangerous.
I feel like one of the most underrated explanations for what's happening right now in global politics is that almost everyone has lost their minds.

Such classic gaslighting it's an instructive moment. The question is not whether generic is better or worse, it's that a list with more expensive brand names is not the same as a list with cheaper generics. Perverting that truth into an attack on those calling it out is Manipulation 101.
Hassett: "On one of the Sunday shows, the anchor criticized the fact Walmart said the Thanksgiving dinner is cheaper by about $10. Then he said, 'Oh yeah, but they substituted generic stuff,' as if having a generic something is a crime for ordinary folks! It shows how out of touch these people are."

This has an 80s movie feel to it. The beta bullies are lining up to give the freak his swirlies, per usual protocol, but the alpha bully has unexpectedly decided that the freak is cool now, and therefore off limits.

while I’m being cranky, access journalism needs to go. When the president does his “I’m alpha because I insulted you” thing somebody needs to fall on his sword and say “what the fuck is wrong with you, old man?” on a hot mic. the hero of the wizard of Oz is Toto.

It’s Day One of my 2nd annual FB Marketplace physical media pop-up store in my garage… and I forgot how much white dudes of a certain age love to browse for 30 minutes to pick out 10 CDs for $20 (complimentary).

I looked at the twenty-nine mentions of LOLITA in the Epstein emails released this week, and what they say about America today.

The thing is, getting busted about his cheap-ass tacky spray painted Home Depot decorations and lying about it… the whole process is theater that reinforces his base. They WANT to see his shitty Jedi mind trick act, and he knows this and he does this stuff to give his people their serotonin boost.
CONFIRMED: the gold snot covering the Oval Office is $58-apiece onlays from Home Depot that have been spraypainted.

When Laura Ingraham confronted Trump about this in the Oval—specifically and correctly noting that the tacky garbage was from Home Depot—he lied to her face and insisted it wasn't.

He is a computer safety researcher.

And he has written one of the most compelling, comprehensive accounts of the ongoing hell in Chicago that you could possibly imagine.

My brain just retrieved this 1992 Ice-T quote by the last 4 words:

“I have a sticker on my record that says `Parental Guidance Is Suggested.’ In my book, parental guidance is always suggested. If you need a sticker to tell you that you need to guide your child, you’re a dumb fuckin’ parent anyhow”
