As a dedicated long standing Liberal Democrat member, activist and office holder I don't think there are any circumstances I'd go to the right wing press to slag off the party even when it's wrong, I would (and have) dealt with stuff internally.

Ah well I guess we now know why the Gov was so resistant to taking Thames Water into public control and why the Gov kept insisting it would involve massive payouts to the ownership.

Really happy to see this, and absolutely love the stuff on youth engagement.

It's something that needs a lot of work to get us to where we need, and absolutely have faith that Josh will be able to get us going in the right direction.
The Liberal Democrats must be the first and last line of defence against the populism infecting our politics.

We need to be ready to fight for the soul of our country.

You can absolutely get to fuck. The oxcam arc is not coherent enough to have that being the primary regional borders
As the great Ronnie Coleman once said, "everybody wants to be a [devolver] but nobody wants to [draw the map]". But luckily @stkaye.bsky.social and @seaneke.bsky.social have! Great to see in our paper, out today.

Already picking out which province I want to be the Governor of. Which do you want? 🔗👇

The biggest issue with this was that he said he still wouldn't tell the Intelligence and Security Committee

One of the big questions needs to be why they felt they couldn't tell the members of the committee (who are nominated by the PM, approved by parliament and have clearence)
🚨 NEW: Former Defence Secretary Grant Shapps, who ensured the superinjunction on the Afghan data leak remained in place, says he would “do the same thing again” and “walk over hot coals” to save lives
July 18, 2025 at 8:33 AM
They spent all morning on #r4today teasing the Grant Shapps interview (first place he's talking, I wonder why he chose the today programme) and it was totally pointless.

Completely softball and let him dismiss any sort of democratic or parliamentary oversight without pushback

The absolute worst BBC content is coverage about themselves. They are usually overly critical but also it just has a weird vibe, especially when it's an interview of the DG.

Should have just done more on the Afghan leak instead of cutting that off on #Newsnight

Superman is very explicitly idealistic liberal interventionism (idealistic because it isn't muddled by the reality of politics).

In-universe chronically online leftists would almost certainly be crying about Superman being western interference and making things worse so don't get them cheering

Absolute queen 👑

Really strange logic going on here by the leadership and their anonymous sources in the press.
There has been a lot of speculation over the past 24 hours regarding my removal as the Liberal Democrat Spokesperson for Women and Equalities and Scotland. I can now confirm I have been removed from that position, and have shared my response below.

The #1 priority after the next election for all parties needs to be PR (And LDs/SNP/Greens/new-socialist-party should probably try and agree on what form (the answer is STV))

Do you need a dictionary?

Zohran is a good candidate and it's good he won regardless of the (v American coded) socialism.

The solution for non-socialist liberal Dems isn't to reject the Zohran win, but to make it part of a broader coalition against shit ineffective Dems.
June 25, 2025 at 1:58 PM
Between the Zohran win and the Labour rebellion over welfare, it's a really bad time for incredibly shit "left" wing establishments who's main purpose in life is how much they fucking hate the left
June 25, 2025 at 8:00 AM
Is it fptp? I fucking bet it's fptp

I fully support us expanding back out to air based nuclear capability.

But rather than continuing to tie ourselves to the Americans, we should be working with the domestic military industry to procure it.

Not really surprising given that one whip has already resigned over this. The bunker is getting really small
Another rebel MP tells me the whipping operation has been "very half-arsed"

Regardless of if proscribing is going too far, everyone is totally missing the fact that workers and police officers were attacked with Sledgehammers during one of Palestine Actions precious stunts
We have deep concerns about government plans to designate Palestine Action as a terrorist organisation.

Nonviolent protest, and even acts of vandalism, should not be labelled as terrorism. Civil disobedience has been a powerful force for positive social change.

Quakers speak out against proposed terrorist proscription of Palestine Action
Quakers in Britain have voiced deep concerns about the government’s plan to designate Palestine Action as a terrorist organisation under the Terrorism Act 2000.

This was not "protest" it was breaking into a RAF base and damaging/sabotaging military equipment. That is a direct threat to national security.

Conflating this with ACTUAL illiberal crackdowns on protest and abuses of counter terrorism powers damages the ability to fight them.
🚨BREAKING: We’re deeply concerned at the use of counter terrorism powers to target protest groups.

This is the latest in a succession of measures taken by the UK government to clamp down on protest in the UK.
June 20, 2025 at 8:07 PM
The definition of terrorism has absolutely nothing to do with civilians and it's political illiteracy to not see how harmful this is to the pro Palestinian cause in the UK.

Well thank fuck for that. The initial statement, referring to it as “vandalism”, was poor – proscribing them is the only acceptable action now: www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

It’s deeply disappointing to see MPs quick to say supporters of assisted dying don’t know what’s in the Bill, and to see Bishops in the Lords pledge to block the will of the Commons. Today is a day to celebrate our democracy and that we can make big decisions through considered debate.
June 20, 2025 at 5:46 PM
(proscribing Palestine Action is objectively the correct move)
