Last week was the first full week back after the Christmas recess, and a busy one.

Here’s a snapshot of some of the work I’ve been getting on with across the constituency.

Thank you to everyone who took the time to meet with me or get in touch.

Last night I attended a public meeting in Henley on proposed changes to the fire service.

Thank you to everyone who came and made their voices heard.

As the consultation reaches its final stages, response times in Henley must be protected. 🚒

I spoke to the Minister for Employment Rights and the Minister for Transformation to discuss the Parental Leave Review. It is important that a fair and timely offer is delivered to all parents.

Earlier this week I held a meeting on the Watlington Relief Road. I have been reassured the scheme is continuing to progress, but pressed OCC to act faster, given the importance of this scheme to residents.

I called the Minister to take action considering current predictions show they will miss national targets for Project Gigabit broadband rollout in Oxfordshire and in Henley and Thame

Good to attend the EGM of the All-Party Parliamentary Group on Access to Medicines and Medical Devices, where Danny Beales MP was elected as the new Chair.
Access to medicines and medical devices is a vital issue for patients and families.

Today I met with the Environment Agency and Henley Town Council to discuss Marsh Lock Bridge. I’ll keep pushing for progress and will share updates as soon as I have them.

The last week has shown how uncertain the world can be. That’s why national security must come first. Plans for 3,400 homes at Chalgrove Airfield risk undermining vital defence and emergency services. Housing matters — but not at this cost.

Henley MP claims Chalgrove Airfield homes plan risks security
Freddie van Mierlo claims plans to build a 3,400-home new town in Oxfordshire contradict government policy.

Every week I am inundated with emails about Thames Water — from miscalculated and aggressive billing, to sewage discharges into local rivers and streams, and even homes and gardens flooded with human waste.
I raised these concerns in this week’s debate on the future of Thames Water.

This morning in Parliament, I asked the Minister about repeated power cuts affecting our rural communities. Constituents have highlighted the loss of heating, phone and email access, and financial impact — particularly for older and more vulnerable residents. 🎥⬇️

I’ve written to Ministers about Chalgrove Airfield.

Government planning rules say defence, public safety and established operations must be protected.

That isn’t happening. Chalgrove supports Martin-Baker, NATO air defence and emergency services.

Ministers must explain this

I’ve written to the Water Minister about delays in strengthening the rules that protect rivers like the Thames.

An FOI has revealed Homes England £25.5 MILLION into the hare-brained Chalgrove Airfield scheme. This madness needs to end. I've demanded a meeting with Housing Minister Matthew Pennycook to seek an explanation.

Today in the Commons, MPs voted on Al Pinkerton’s Customs Union Bill — proposing that the UK begin negotiations with the EU to form a Customs Union.
This could support economic growth, help UK businesses, and strengthen the revenue that funds our public services.

🚴‍♂️ Yesterday I cycled from Thame to Haddenham with local councillors, the Mayor of Thame and campaigners to show support for the Thame–Haddenham Greenway. Great momentum behind a safe, green route linking our communities. 🌿

I’ve written to the Water Minister urging the Government to speed up long-promised reforms to protect the Thames.
Key protections for swimmers, rowers + paddleboarders are being delayed to 2027, while local events face sewage + E. coli warnings. Henley Swim has already shut down after 20 years

Great to meet CAE, a key local employer providing helicopter training simulators for the RAF, RN, Army, police and air ambulance. Simulator training saves Govt money and boosts UK readiness. I even flew the PUMA sim from RAF Benson to Sonning Common!

Great to attend the launch of the Fruit and Vegetable Coalition this week — a brilliant initiative first brought to my attention by Sue Manning of Sandy Lane Farm.
With only 1/3 getting 5 a day and 85% of out produce imported, we need change. Great to hear from growers and try their recipes

I had my first outing last week on the Science, Innovation and Technology Select Committee.
On digital ID, I asked if the minister (Ian Murray) was aware of data breaches in other countries.
He said, 'government data is pretty secure'.
Convinced? Me neither!
