For folks who think Rockstar firing 30+ workers in the union isn't union busting - what do you think union busting would look like?

Do you think they'd come right out and be like "Yep, we're union busting"? Is that what you'd need to hear before you believed that's what they were doing?

It’s here! ’The Prince of All Rats’, Fallen London‘s Exceptional Story for November, was written by yours truly. I hope you enjoy the seduction of our self-styled prince!
"May I?" he asks, and he holds out a paw, his claws beckoning. He kisses the back of your hand.

The self-declared Prince of All Rats has the manners, bearing, and ambition to rule – and a personal interest in your acquaintance. Will you help the Fifth City to accept his claim?

The first(?) Citizen Sleeper-like launches in a few weeks!

Have had my eye on this and the demo was very much its own game with its own strong vibes. Definitely recommended for Sleeper fans 👇
🗣️ Release date announcement!!!

My Citizen Sleeper inspired antifascist RPG DUSKPUNK is out Nov 19th.

Survive on the streets of a Steampunk city consumed by war. Fate hangs in a roll of the dice. Will you join the ranks of the powerful… or become part of the revolution?

why do I distract myself from launching a videogame by designing and daydreaming about another videogame?

Anyone fancy storming the imperial palace?

In Duskpunk, my dice-driven RPG, you can help kick the Emperor off a balcony.

Or you can arrest him quietly, if you're boring.

After being buried for days, it looks like Duskpunk crawled out of the Nextfest labyrinth to reach the frontpage of CRPGs?

Or is this just random chance?
October 16, 2025 at 10:07 PM
Any nextfest devs who are wondering why your demo doesn't have a nice big green button on your Steam page: you need to click this tick box!

Kind of maddening that this isn't the default. Learn from my mistakes! 🤣

Thanks for the shout out for Duskpunk! Yeah, I wanted to create a dice mechanic that

1. Felt especially like gambling and
2. Where there was a "hill" to get over (the normal distribution of rolling 2d6) so the player felt a sense of unexpected lightness once their stats were high enough.
I meant "bringing the Citizen Sleeper format *back* to its industrial gothic roots from Blades in the Dark." Consider this an edit.
Plus it's quite interesting that it uses a more PbtA/Disco Elysium style of dice mechanics, rather than the FitD staple that Citizen Sleeper used.

Duskpunk by @jamespatton.bsky.social is about bringing the Citizen Sleeper format to the industrial gothic of Blades in the Dark, with some of Disco Elysium's political sensibilities. Extremely generous demo, I could not finish it in 4 hours.

Brother Rejchek: the first friendly face you meet in Duskpunk, when he scoops you off the cobbles.

He's deeply religious. So he cares for the poor... but has unwavering loyalty to the Emperor, the "Little Father".

Game design is so fun.

Today I found myself asking, "What is a corpse worth?"💀
September 26, 2025 at 1:07 PM
This.

Austerity is how the rich make the poor pay instead. When all's said and done, it's a way to avoid taxing the rich, and is done to maintain their profits at our expense.
1. I've long contended that austerity doesn't save money. It merely transfers costs from one group (the very rich, who would otherwise pay more tax) to others. Last night was a powerful reminder of that. Before I go further, I should say I’m fine. Just a black eye, cuts & bruises, no serious harm. 🧵
