'Instead of “How are our attitudes being reflected in TV and film?” I think the better question is “How is pop culture attempting to shape and mold attitudes?”' -- @ninametz.bsky.social
The hollowness of Hollywood’s rich people stories
TV and film of the moment aren't going to galvanize anyone. But stories closer to home just might.

AAAHHHH! Its incredibly heartening and thrilling anytime I see the series resonates enough with someone that they take the relationship to the next level 🤍👕✌️
Having bought (and loved) every Survival Street comic there is, there was only one thing left to do: get the sweater - and let more people know about this inspired, innovative, and cautionary comic book from the brilliant @jamesasmus.bsky.social!

If I had explain American history in one sentence, I could do worse than "John Brown was hung for treason, but Robert E. Lee was not."
John Brown’s raid on Harpers Ferry began on this day in 1859.

This post about an old issue of Batman (#222) made me realize comics lost - in an era of constantly rebooted titles need to be "Important!" - random, silly, or just interestingly self-contained single-issue stories - which is so much of what used to be 'Comics!'

Like, I get that taking a popular TV host off the air is hugely representative of the problems right now, but the censorious efforts of Republicans are literally trying to get trans people's existence labelled as pornography and punishable by 20+ years and $100K fines for literally existing online.
I made a few short, sharable info posts about the things that're going on (mostly here in the U.S.) that I think people need to be paying attention to and fighting for. Trans rights, fighting against censorship, fighting for a free Palestine, fighting against all the oppressive policies in place.

May we one day have accountability for the grotesque lawlessness of this regime.
