ICE must be abolished, and it will be. The American people won’t stand for this.

In the meantime, we need every elected official at every level of government to leverage the powers that we have to hold them accountable. I will be doing my part and I will expect other leaders will too.

If your children got tear gassed today I want to hear from you, even if you don’t live in my district. You can contact my office at councilor.green@portlandoregon.gov

Are whole grain or low-glycemic pastas okay? You could make a variety of pasta salads. It's easy to make several servings at a time or toss noodles in a basic dressing and add different toppings with every meal. You can also swap quinoa or brown rice for the noodles.

No beans required.

Not only did this happen in a residential neighborhood, the park is right next to a hospital campus and the Ronald McDonald House/patient recovery housing.
They just heavily gassed. Went thru my full face again. the medics were saying it was going through their masks too. There were very young children present. This is the road nearby ten minutes after the gassing started. The gas is still visible as I type this.

I just got tear gassed along with thousands of union members, many of whom had their families with them. Federal agents at the ICE facility tear gassed children. We must abolish ICE, DHS, and we must have prosecutions. I expect to see enforcement of our city code prohibiting the use of tear gas.

Feeling pretty vindicated for my decades-long distaste for Chomsky (genocide denial, regrettable sentence structure, etc.)
Cool thoughts from Noam Chomsky

I am. But there are three things at play here regarding ICE collecting private data. Quick rundown on the issue, why you should be paying attention, and what I'm doing about it:
So which politician is calling for the dismantling of the probably illegal database that ice & this government is collecting biometric data of protesters?

Six or seven of my great-grandparents were immigrants. At least four were refugees, possibly six. One was still alive when I was born.

True, but baby toys are basically liquid after a few minutes of playtime.

The flimsy politics of citizenship might seem like the detail that distinguishes Liam’s story from the stories of our own kids.

But his innocence, like the innocence of all children, is unimpeachable.
They want to tell you a kid with a Spider-Man backpack is evil
Liam Ramos' innocence, like the innocence of all kids, is unimpeachable. The visuals of his arrest are excruciating.

More training won’t fix this, because they don’t want trained agents. They want hair-trigger goons juiced up on hate.

They are going to keep doing this until someone gives them what they really want and fires back.

CNN: DHS officials have come to FEMA staff and told them to limit the use of the word ice…they are worried that by posting something like, watch out for the ice, that it's going to become a meme….

Great thread if you need some hope
I came to Minneapolis to report on what's going on, and one of the main questions I showed up with is "just what is the scale of the resistance?" After all, we're all used to the news calling Portland a "war zone" or whatever when it's just some protests in one part of town.

I really miss Burrito Depot, Port Townsend's Mexican restaurant that was owned by the sweetest Thai family. You could get a massive burrito, a pile of nachos, or great pad thai for a few bucks. I probably ate there thousands of times from ages 4–24.

I'd go with my RA during my one year at PSU in 2000. He was a straightish military vet who always took me to queer things. He introduced me to flirting with drag queens & 3 AM fries with black coffee. When I went back for their closing sale, an employee told me she probably waited on us back then.
