Alder flycatcher, Blakeney Pt, Sept 2010. V similar to the last species I posted; this was just a couple of yrs after Britain's 1st and will be remembered by those who saw it on the 1st day for the 6 mile return walk along shingle in horizontal rain being battered by a force 10 storm. Nice. #birding

Gonna post each day a new bird species I've photographed in UK until I get bored..starting alphabetically with Acadian flycatcher from Sept 2015. The sole record to date & the 2nd N American Empidonax sp to make it here. Virtually a one day #bird, gracing a small garden beside a Kent beach. #birding

Watching Labour MPs take a wrecking ball to nature makes me so angry & so sad. Their action tonight voting down amendments to the #PlanningBill intended to protect wildlife & habitats from destruction is so reckless & so counterproductive. People didn’t vote Labour for this 👇

A trip out to Leics & Northants - the AGP showed well and there were a nice couple of redhead Smew. The afternoon finished with brief distant views of the rather elusive Lesser scaup at Ditchford GPs. #Birding #Twitching

For a country with ‘Great’ in the title we seem to be pretty rubbish at a lot of things. Including this. Nothing ‘great’ about being an ecological desert.

🚨It's now or never for nature.

The Planning Bill is nearly law. An amendment passed by the Lords offers vital protection for sensitive habitats and species - but it needs MP support to stay in.
