Definitely one of the great ‘props’ from famous rarity pics, along with an Orcadian toilet seat and some gas canisters on North Ron; & a parked red Audi in Oxon. Wonder what others I’ve missed?

What makes it fulvescens over tristis? Is fulvescens even a valid diagnosable taxon these days? I rarely see it mentioned now.

Wow. Aiming high! Vismig poor here. The autumn’s highlight probably a single flyover Brambling. But 2024-5 has been generally exceptional for me for new garden birds.

I used to stay regularly at Portland Bird Observatory in Dorset. Sometimes it was in the old lighthouse & once - when they were full - I was put on a mattress in its bookstore. Perhaps there’s the institution to suggest it to!
