⚠️ Hitchcock & John Webster?

Since the 1980s 'The emphasis in contemporary criticism...now foregrounds their modernity, and the self-conscious flair in which they invoke, investigate, and struggle with the artificiality and rhetorical potency of their chosen forms.'

If treason trials with *full penalties* are not prosecuted if we ever get these ghouls out of office, this will keep happening.
We need a Jacobean theater solution.

Crawford is so monumentally malignant in Harriet Craig it feels like Jacobean drama. Her hair, clothes, movements and gestures are all terrifyingly sharp and symmetrical.

Its slow start-pace reminds me of The Stepford Wives.

I think Hitchcock knew it contributed to bombing at the box office. His next film, 1959's North by Northwest was on the move constantly.

If you stick with it, Vertigo is astonishing. And I mean Kim Novak. That's the performance of a lifetime.

👁️ That subversive Jacobean tendency to blend all kinds of opposites...

NEW: A judge in Washington has ruled that police images taken by Flock’s AI license plate-scanning cameras are public records that can be requested as part of normal public records requests.

The decision highlights the sheer volume of the technology-fueled surveillance state in the US.

👁️ He made each film a technical challenge...just as the killers regard their murder as a thrilling experiment. And so here he made his audience complicit in both. 🎬
#Hitchcock
One of Hitchcock’s more underrated films.

I especially like the experimental editing and camera work filming in 15 minute takes with creative attempts to hide each cut.

The Lodger - 1927

If anyone needs a recommendation for Halloween that’s new and different may I suggest this classic silent Hitchcock. So creepy. So atmospheric. So incredible, almost 100 years later. Turn off all the lights and enjoy a masterpiece.
