Is there any guarantee that Nigel Farage will still be the MP for Clacton after the general election in 2029? Discuss. @mrjamesob.bsky.social

Andrew Marr says the PM is 'more determined', but stands firm in his prediction that we are 'heading towards' a Reform government.

NEW: Who was John Pond?
This August 2009 email exchange which was forwarded to Epstein included Mandelson, the PM's PPS Jeremy Heywood, the minister/adviser Shriti Vadera and... John Pond.

Two sources have told the BBC that John Pond was in fact Gordon Brown, then the PM

And don’t get me started on the Osborne decision to abolish maintenance grants. The poorest students now borrow the most, carry debt longest, and subsidise the richest families who can pay it off quickly. Sounds like a sensible tax system!

@mrjamesob.bsky.social What is wrong with the food industry. Who cares if a carrot resembles Nora Batty’s tights or a potato isn’t perfectly round. Food is food. Any chance of a phone in on this absurdity?

@simonmarksfsn.bsky.social In light of this weeks unhinged ramblings by US President Donald Trump it is essential that American Week becomes American Hour because his constant ramblings change by the hour.

@simonmarksfsn.bsky.social can you confirm that Washington DC was a safe and harmonious state before ICE was deployed there because the continued unhinged rhetoric from Trump about DC decline and now miraculous regeneration is becoming more desperate by the day.

I wouldn’t get too excited about the Trump line on force in Greenland. He’s been spooked by the markets and possibly by US public opinion. It’ll be the line until it’s not where he’ll hint at it again. Which might be later today.

Rachel Johnson using her show to tell the Covid inquiry to “sod off” and a political witch hunt against her brother. Insulting many of us who lost our loved ones prematurely because of her brother.

I listened to Andrew Marr’s interview with Conservative Party chairman Kevin Hollinrake. It was so syrupy about how marvellous Kemi Badenoch is it left me feeling quite nauseated. But to quote Mandy Rice-Davies (Profumo) “Well he would, wouldn't he.”
Even by Badenoch’s standards, responding to the opportunity offered by Jenricks’s departure by promoting the ‘mastermind’ behind Theresa May’s myriad disasters is an act of extraordinary idiocy.

This is what decades of underfunding in NHS frontline services looks like.
As I've said before the lack of focus on A&E in govt plans is bewildering even just from a political perspective. For many people it's their most viseral and memorable interaction with the state.
This week an elderly woman died alone on a trolley in a hospital corridor, with desperate, exhausted staff unable to tend to her

This is the reality in our NHS right now and for those on the front line, it’s horrifying

The man who literally wrote the book on the use of vehicles as ramming weapons says any claim Good used hers as such is false, and that her execution, followed by the false claim, is "death squad behavior."
🧵In my expert opinion as a researcher of vehicle ramming attacks, what has been publicly described in the video evidence does not support the claim that Renee Nicole Good was attempting a deliberate ramming attack when she was shot in Minneapolis on January 7, 2026. 1/7

I watched the police and Mayor of Minneapolis press conference about this shocking incident. They looked and sounded stunned about what had happened. What isTrump doing to America. And importantly, can he be stopped?
Just a reminder: what is taking place in Minneapolis is precisely the kind of confrontation Trump covets, days after he postulated canceling America's midterm elections.
