One thing I will never forget is how six Republican Justices on the bench of our Highest Court declared kidnapping and disappearing human beings without a paper trail to anywhere in the world is a lawful act.

SCOTUS is the now the very death panel Republicans told us to fear.

I am 1000% with the excellent Ms Jeong on this matter.
I would call myself a professional pessimist and "extremely depressed about the future" but god, please stop going into people's mentions to tell them that the law/courts no longer matter or post "AND YOU'RE SURPRISED???" at them, especially so if they are actively engaged in making the world better

National debt, senator?? You mean the debt that grew by $3 trillion thanks to the big ugly bill you voted for? That debt?
Text from Indiana Sen. Todd Young saying our 3 biggest problems are China, the border, and national debt?

Do you know any Hoosiers, Sen. Young?

Since 1980, there have been over 400 weather disasters in the US, with total damages over $1 billion.

These disasters have cost $2.9 trillion in total and killed nearly 17,000 people.

Don't tell me we "can't afford" to address the climate crisis.

The truth is we can’t afford not to.

As someone who lived in New Orleans during the thing you call Katrina, I’m here to say that the time to politicize governmental failure in a tragedy is when anyone is still paying attention.

Project 2025 clearly states that the goal is to defund and eliminate NOAA/NWS, so it can be privatized, monopolized, and made for profit.

It also states clearly that NOAA’s climate change messaging must be stopped.

This is all by design.

Apparently, "in 2016 engineers warned that Kerr County faced a high risk of a devastating flood. They recommended high-water sensors, river gauges, and automated alerts to protect lives. FEMA and NOAA offered funding pathways, but local Republican leadership rejected those recommendations."

Plus, I think Mr. Bessent needs to get out of his privileged bubble and go among those marginalized people on Medicaid and SNAP who are already working that have all this agency he talks about. Then look around and tell us how new jobs coming will able them to afford healthcare.

How did he do it?

NOT be spending more on police. He did it by MAJOR investment in afterschool and literacy programs.
