My 9yo niece was feeling nostalgic for her youth and made my dad read her @elliottkalan.bsky.social's "Horse Meets Dog" and @ryannorth.ca's "How to Be a T-Rex." The new childhood classics!

A lot of education discourse is at root an inability to decide whether the purpose of our education system is to 1) teach material and measure learning 2) reward students who work hard 3) separate the smart kids (destined for smart guy jobs) from the dumb kids (destined to serve the smart guys)

The part that strikes me here is how their definitions of "race ideology" and "gender ideology" don't actually include any of the stuff taught in race studies or gender studies classes. When I teach about gender I don't use it to "replace" biological sex!
