I came across this post when researching a blog on doing the things that help you dream and believe rather than what you are having to deal with and it is incredibly apposite.

Today's story you need to read, and a reminder of the magnificent human being @manmademoon.bsky.social remains :D

How on the day David Bowie died he apparently paid £10,116 towards Binley Woods village hall's car park
The cash was sent to Binley by Bowie's son, the total seemingly marking the date of the star's death.

If I can do this consistently for the next three months (as is my goal) I will achieve my 2026 health goals by some time in mid-March.

we are going to win

but first I am going to cry
Overheard in the crowd, a mother explaining to her young child who is holding a cymbal: "Do you remember? This is the same road we marched on for George Floyd. Another man who was killed."

…Probably the least vague vagueskeet ever… but just a thought. Rarely has a writer’s famous thesis been proven so true, in so brief a series of images: “Men are afraid women will laugh at them. Women are afraid men will kill them.”

There are no pictures, forcing you to read without distraction... but there is mention of #poetry, so... THE CHOICE IS YOURS.
#570: Poetry Darling
We interrupt the poetry for some required long-form reflection... There are no pictures, forcing you to read without distraction... There was a conversation last night with someone, after hearing somebody else read in an Open Mic who is likely to go on to become a Poetry Darling. This is not a derogatory term: this person is a proper genius. They tick all the boxes.

This is cool
It's the 3rd of January 1939, your name is professor James Smith and you are staring at a drawing of a fish. It's not a regular fish. It is a completely impossible fish.

ALL OF THIS.
The thing that depresses me in the whole AI revolution in my industry (I’m a literary translator and publisher) is that the question is not whether machines can replace human translators, but how will we deal with the fallout after machines are forcibly introduced regardless.
