I like movies a lot. I worry about right-wing extremism. I play and sometimes write tabletop RPGs. I do SRE things but don’t speak for my employer here. I grew up in New England and live with my wife in Seattle. He/his.

Got to play in a Hollows one-shot today, and it really paid off on the promise of tactical boss combats. The quick start pregens are maybe a bit lumpy but I wound up wanting to build my own PC so I have to admit the goal was accomplished. rowanrookanddecard.com/product-cate... #TTRPG

Man, that Sonder story is wild. I hadn’t used them a ton but they were the perfect #FantasiaFestival hotel, literally next to the primary theaters and cheap.

I was in Iowa City hanging out with the folks who founded the local chapter of Citizens Opposing the Offing of Peaks, which is how I wound up in the chorus of Dr. Demento #1 hit “All We Are Saying is Give Peaks a Chance.”
I was lucky enough to watch #TwinPeaks in the order it came out but for many, the first two seasons were hard to come by so #FireWalkWithMe was their introduction.

Not until the show hit Netflix and released on DVD did it take off again.

How did you first find "Twin Peaks"?

Really good #LastFourFriday. Yes yes I like Westerns now, you got me. Also one excellent new release, a Canadian classic (watched with @smichele.bsky.social, her first Maddin, fun!) and an obscure French political romance thriller with two great actors. 📽️

Man, Ricky Nelson’s performance as a dangerously bloodthirsty gunslinger in Rio Bravo is gonna stick with me. Did he ever do anything else like that? I swear he would have picked the other side if it had seemed there was gonna be more risk over there. 📽️

Holy crap, #Seattle, buy your tickets now. And thank you Chase!
Listen up Seattle film lovers: acclaimed Palme d’Or-winning director Jafar Panahi is coming to @siffnews.bsky.social next week for a post-film Q&A after a screening of his essential IT WAS JUST AN ACCIDENT. Thus, wrote about why you should absolutely go below 📽️

Dekker is also tremendously influential on the site reliability engineering discipline.
And Jere’s blog is always worth reading if you’re a tech geek; surprising how much overlap there is between pharma quality and keeping servers running.

Okay, so I also dislike transfers at Heathrow a lot. But… how can you complain about baggage delays when everyone at BA kept telling you that you were too late to make your flight? I’d bet real money that at least one person actually said that your baggage was what would be delayed.

Repost with an iconic fictional band. 🎸🥁🎸🎶

Josie and the Pussycats (movie version) is the easy correct answer, but I haven’t seen them live in a little high school gym on Nantucket, so…

Good old @filmsradiance.bsky.social hits my sweet spot again with Le Combat dans l’île. Jean-Louis Trintignant and Romy Schneider, to start with, and then it’s really about how how she escapes his misogynistic colonialist terrorist life? I am so glad movies exist. 📽️

Picked up some dry erase tokens from TacticalTokens.com which worked very well for Feng Shui shot count markers. Witness the PCs:

Any other Pluribus watchers who found Koumba Diabaté a little stereotypical? There’s something about the African man whose only conception of wealth is American excess that bugs me.

Sleepy tonight but #LastFourWatched calls! Two shorts, two full length movies. I don’t spend enough time with the Criterion Channel’s shorts and I’m always glad when I do explore them. 📽️

Maybe you forgot to sign your ballot, or your signature didn't quite match the one on record. If you received a signature challenge letter and have questions, we have a web page for that.

Folks who need to resolve a signature challenge have until 4:30 pm on November 24.

And there it is: with Friday’s vote count, Harrell leads Wilson by a slim 50.7% to 48.8%. There are around 50,000 remaining ballots. If you’re in #Seattle, consider signing up for ballot curing efforts: linktr.ee/Wilsonforsea...

That annoying moment when it's clear your most recent attempt at migrating your blog is going to succeed, but you've got a solid week left of work to do, and you don't want to add another post to the old platform because then you'll have to restart stuff.

This was an immediate subscribe for me. The trifecta:

- reputable maintainers
- clear explanation of label meaning
- useful knowledge
By the way this labeler is very helpful, if for no other reason than as a signal for gauging other people’ too-onlineness.

On the one hand, meh CNN.

On the other hand, how is the Seattle mayoral race so unimportant that it’s not in CNN’s side scroller of mayoral races?

The worst thing about migrating my blog off Wordpress is discovering the post where I said nice things about Gavin Newsom. In my defense, gay marriage. In my not defense, they were really tone deaf things even though I was trying to be nice.
