Why virtual care for back pain? A two minute primer…
January 3, 2026 at 7:58 PM
Something I say with new patients before we start an initial assessment…

“If there’s anything I say that you don’t agree with, or something you think I have wrong, please let me know. You won’t offend me, you won’t hurt my feelings. I want you to feel comfortable asking questions.”

Happy New Year.

Coming up with a post that ties in the new year and back pain is challenging - informative/inspiring/funny/sensitive…?

I’ll let you know if I come up with something good.

Suggestions welcome.

You’re about to make an exercise-based new year resolution, aren’t you?

That’s awesome.

This is one of my favourite videos about the benefits of physical activity, and how you don’t need to be a sports superstar to gain huge benefits.

I remember writing this and wanting to share it because it can be worthwhile information for people suffering with back pain.
Do you have back pain?

Are you limited by health, or mobility in finding care?

Is getting care limited by distance?

Do you want to avoid the risk of catching the flu or COVID by going to a clinic?

Then please read on… 1/7

You might have been expecting a different message?

We’ve become so used to healthcare telling us what to worry about, and why you need to come in for [x] therapy.

But messaging about how we can be strong, adaptable, and resilient are just as important.

Especially when it comes to back pain.
Snow is falling.

And that leads to sidewalk and driveway shovelling.

And that leads to backs, arms, legs - the whole body - getting some good physical activity.

Back pain doesn’t take holidays.

And believe it or not, I actually have time today.

So if you need some help please get in touch.

If most places are closed over the holidays, and you have back pain, but you’re hesitant to go to the ER, or you just can’t easily get out of your house… are there any other options?

Oh ya, this one…

We’re heading into health goal setting season.

And if there’s one thing I wish you with your health endeavours, it’s peace.

Peace in the plan. Peace in the struggle. Peace in your successes, and failures.

Peace in knowing that effort and outcome can be two separate measures, both with worth.

See, like this one. It has red bow at the top corner, and talks about the challenges at this time of the year.

I mean it not bad, or wrong. But maybe a little more creativity wouldn’t hurt?

As we go through the holiday season remember that there can be back pain, and people can have back pain, and it’s good to have information about back pain.

(this is what every seasonal clinic/business post reads like to me, including my own)

My wish for everyone into the new year is a large amount of protein.

That seems to be popular these days.

Frequently people ask what’s the best therapy for back pain - physiotherapy, chiropractic, massage…?

The answer is that it can vary significantly from person to person, for both the patient and the practitioner.

My advice: the benefits you get need to be worth the time, effort, and cost.

It’s just before 9:00pm on a Saturday.

Know anyone with back pain?

I bet you do.
Did you know that #BackPain can be bothersome not just during the day, but at night as well? Sometimes even very late.

It’s true.

Hey Mark, aren’t you using this helpful and considerate strategy to make yourself look good?

Yes. There are a lot of challenging things going on in the world these days. Now isn’t the time to hide the good we bring to it.
Finances can be tight. Especially around this time of the year.

Back pain doesn’t care.

But I do.
