To be clear… the *majority* of you don’t need to spend money on special treatments or appointments with people like me.

Some of you though… yes, you should totally be talking with a healthcare provider like me about your symptoms, and next best steps to get things feeling and functioning better.
Yesterday I mentioned that back pain is the biggest causes of disability worldwide.

The good news is that the overwhelming majority of back pain isn’t dangerous, and is self-limiting.

That means you don’t need to spend money on special treatments or appointments with people like me.

Woo-hoo!

A lot of people (and I mean a-lot) have been asking if I’ll start posting about things other than back pain, more fun things?

1. Back pain is what I know really well, and a lot of other stuff is outside my scope of practice.

2. Woozle-wuzzle?

Considering that low #BackPain is biggest cause of disability worldwide I really appreciate everyone who’s shared this post.

Especially getting the word out to those living further north, and in rural areas where virtual care can play an increasingly valuable role.
Many communities in northern #Ontario have limited access to healthcare for #BackPain.

Virtual consultations are one option that can help.

What, is he just going to leave this hanging here without listing them?

(shhh! It’s soc med 101 on how you prompt engagement and build an online following)
Most #BackPain, and leg pain associated with back pain, doesn’t require a surgeon’s opinion.

But there are a few key signs and symptoms that when present are good indications to ask your doctor or nurse practitioner for a surgical consultation.

I never prescribe “laughter as the best medicine” because #BackPain is no laughing matter, and it should be taken seriously.

(although I’ve been known to write an off label script for chuckling, PRN)

Did you know that #BackPain can be bothersome not just during the day, but at night as well? Sometimes even very late.

It’s true.

To be clear: your doctor and the ER physician know what they’re doing. But so often they aren’t afforded the time needed to make sure you feel good with the decisions going forward.

That’s where having the time to talk with an expert, ask questions, and understand your condition better can help.
Hey Mark, if this clinic doesn’t refer for MRI/surgery what’s the point of booking?

[sarcasm font] You know how the ER physician/family doctor has nothing but time to explain why they’re sending you home without further investigations, and you leave feeling so much better about your path forward?

I was at an event where some guy was going on about how laughter’s the best medicine, at which point Antibiotics turns to me and says “Hold my beer…”

I should probably promote my clinic here, as well.

Scroll halfway down the homepage to watch the the short intro video and see if you can tell the difference between me, and the plants I’m standing beside.

I think you’ll be pleasantly surprised.

#BackPain affects about 30% of the population at any given time.

This statistic might not mean much to you. But stating it here gives the impression that I know what I’m talking about.

Virtual assessments for back pain aren’t the answer for everyone, or every back pain condition.

But they can be a great option for those who don’t have convenient access to in-person care due to time, distance, or mobility.
