There are lots of ways we can express collective grief and fury and solidarity without appropriating something from Black women who have repeatedly asked us not to do this and should not have to ask again.

If the US moves to take over Greenland – a threat we’d be foolish to dismiss – Canada would be forced to rethink every aspect of its relations with the US. Canadian officials need to start thinking though this nightmarish scenario now, not later. It would be a seismic event.

Greenland is not a protectorate of the United States. It's part of Denmark, a sovereign nation and US stalwart ally.
Ogles: "It's important that we have a stake in Greenland, that they are quite frankly a protectorate of the US. They've been in relationship with Denmark - that needs to end. We've spilled more blood protecting Greenland than the Danes... we are the dominant predator force in the Western Hemisphere"

I rarely miss Twitter these days, the one exception being days like today where it's -2C with a "wintery mix" of precipitation. It was the one place I could check road conditions at this blindingly early hour to decide if I should wfh or not.

the terracotta warriors are literally painted, by the way, it's why most of them remain in the pits - they lost their color when exposed, and Chinese archaeologists and other scientists have been trying to figure out a way to excavate the rest while keeping the paint intact
Just realized that Emperor Qin Shi Huang's "Terracotta Army" of clay soldiers he kept in a vault in like 200 BC make him the first Warhammer Guy. he got some disposable income and started painting minis. totally get it

The US has attacked a country, kidnapped its head of state, and is seizing its oil. Trump has invoked the Monroe Doctrine.

This is a moment for Canada to stand up: condemn this act of imperialism. Reject impunity and the politics of brute force.

Allow me to connect some dots for you:

Too much of the world currently relies for its basic functions on resources which must be continuously extracted. You burn that oil one time and oops, now you need more.

Geopolitical horrors are, in fact, one of the reasons we need to move to renewables ASAP.

The only Canadian value the Canadian government truly prioritizes is appeasing the current US Administration.

That is the only thing Canada stands for.

And I'm pretty fucking sick of it.

The biggest threat to Canada is the party that forms our official opposition. This attitude is what allowed this situation to happen.

It's a poison in our own nation. With this official statement we cannot claim to be a nation devoted to justice. It's a devotion to might, power and greed.

Maduro is a brutal and oppressive dictator of Venezuela.

Trump has no legitimate legal basis for military action against Venezuela under United States or international law.

Both of those facts are simultaneously true.

The only people that thought Trump was joking were Americans with their heads up their asses, on both sides of the aisle. Your president is dangerous. What are you doing about it?!?!

This is the thing that makes me saddest about trying to write queer spec romance. Because they mean "romance is for cishet women". Love stories with HEAs are for everybody. There's amazing queer and trans romance writers and we deserve what they will write if they have support to do it.
I see plenty of people insisting on "romance is for women" as a way of gatekeeping the genre against non-women, including and especially queer folks of all genders.

Unless I'm missing something, and I'm pretty sure I'm not, Twitter's AI is cranking out CSAM deepfakes, Elon Musk is making jokes about it, and nobody is doing anything to stop it or hold anyone at Twitter accountable for its creation and distribution.

Is that right?
