Victoria’s Big Belief in Small Grocers — Sidewalking Victoria
A few years ago I wrote an article about all of the independent international grocery stores that you could visit downtown. You can read that article here (Though I will note that some of the places on that list have changed or closed). One of the things that I raised in that article was just the

Scenario: a person confidently shares opinion on controversial subject online and replies to every sceptical friend that they “are not interested in discussing the issue.”

Why does this happen? Isn‘t sharing one’s opinion in public an invitation to hear what others have to say? Otherwise, why post?

If you’re rich enough you can get government to do anything you want. For the rest of us we just need to lay down and learn to take it quietly.

Having a healthy dose of scepticism regarding government statistics is a good thing. Requires some knowledge of how stats actually work though.

Good news to hear the transit Youth Passes will remain funded. This is a vital program that should be expanded across our entire region. Victoria is a leader here and that’s commendable.

On Indigenous Veterans Day, we honour the sacrifice of those who have served, those who serve today, and their families.

Victoria should be swimming in cash. What with all of the development that has gone on over the past decade. Too bad we elected people willing to tug at heart strings over affordable housing, jettisoning obstacles to oversee the large profits for their developer friends. Now we have to make cuts.

The most damning aspects of the MNP Report were not the civil surveys, it was the internal interviews with staff. But yeah let’s just sweep that under the rug.

Reminder: in Victoria Politics it is impossible to both support something and understand it’s not the right time to be spending money. That’s how we do.
