Jesse Jackson, whose impassioned oratory and vision of a “rainbow coalition” of the poor and forgotten made him the nation's most influential Black figure in the years between the civil rights crusades of Martin Luther King Jr. and the election of Barack Obama, died on Tuesday at 84. Follow live.

My thoughts on Stephen A Smith potentially running for president are:

Could we please stop fucking electing celebrities and get back to the business of running the country with boring people who just want to do a good job.

Thanks

For the record, I’m fine with the Pentagon or literally any other entity destroying Anthropic. It doesn’t even have to be metaphorical destruction.
We live in an autocratic oligarchic hellhole.

The Pentagon is basically saying that if Anthropic doesn't drop its demands over restricting the use of AI in autonomous drone targeting and surveillance of Americans, it will essentially destroy the company.
Exclusive: Pentagon warns Anthropic will "pay a price" as feud escalates
The Pentagon may label Anthropic a "supply chain risk," forcing all its vendors to sever ties.

I know it's crazy, but maybe we could wait until one person-- just ONE-- actually declares as a presidential candidate before we tear each other apart over who we're voting for in the general? Y'all realize there's over two years and a whole primary between now and then?

Holy crap, I just looked at Platner’s FEC filings, & in Q4 he raised $4.6m but spent $3.1m. And the election was still 6 months away.

His campaign is essentially a cash cow for online & direct mail fundraising consultants, who take like half of what they raise.

Yep. In fairness, this says she buys most of his harvest, not all. But it's very revelatory of his not having a working-class background.

Why Graham Platner is a working-class impersonator
And why the online left can’t see it.

Graham Platner 1) had a Nazi tattoo for fifteen years. Disqualifying. 2) Explained it basically by saying he was too stupid to realize what it was. Also disqualifying. And THEN 3) Covered it up with ANOTHER WHITE SUPREMACIST TATTOO, and at this point fuck him and fuck you too if you’re still caping.

One of the fastest ways to get me to disregard your opinion is to bring the DNC into a conversation. No one with any sense gives a shit.

LOL

The best thing about all this is that the kid who *got punched* has to be the one who originally uploaded the video. Clearly an awful lot has not worked out the way he thought it would.

ASSORTED CRISIS EVENTS #8 is, I think, the first comic book I've ever read where the type of paper the book used was actually important to the story. Well-done.
