UW pharmacist, Dr Whitney Hartlage, presenting on non-severe CAP, asking the very good question, “do we really need to add empirical atypical coverage routinely?”

New from IDSA, thanks to Dr William Werbel, resp virus vax in immunocompromised population:

- vax 2 weeks before or 3-6 months after immunocompromise expected
- expect blunted response if given within that window
- defer during acute rejection, illness
- adjust for viral circulation

Highly bioavailable drugs to know! 💊
Remember:
📍 IV is not superior to PO as long as patient improved and gut working
📍IV to PO transition is just that: a transition. Sometimes using the word de-escalation suggests it’s inferior.
📍Don’t forget shorter is better
