Thinking about how white men turn to white supremacy and misogyny because they have no salient cultural ties or heritage to help them navigate the tribulations of being human. And they’re not allowed to express their emotions. So they turn to hate to find ways to express their feelings and fears.

A few years ago, Jon Lovett floated a theory that media treats Democrats like protagonists - to be challenged, accounted, and forced to be behave in growth-oriented ways - while the GOP are treated like antagonists - immutable, expected to disrupt, thematic obstacles.
