It is crazy that the president can sue anyone while he is president by the way. There is always incentive to settle if he is office and it always effectively a bribe. Congress needs to eliminate that possibility

Reading this made me shiver, and feel that this is a harbinger of exactly that pattern.

The molluscs are decimating food chains in Switzerland, have devastated the Great Lakes in the US, and this week were spotted in Northern Ireland for the first time

Watching farmer protests in Europe, it is worth a reminder that we have paid an average of 30-50 billion euros in annual subsidies to our farmers for the last decades. The current E.U budget allocates 387 billion euros to farmers from 2021 to 2027. This is unsustainable. We can't keep doing this.

Is the Venezuela invasion part of some global Molotov-Ribbentrop pact? The Americans belong to the U.S., Europe belongs to Russia.
The White House appears to be inventing new excuses for war in the Caribbean, with drugs no longer serving as the main selling point. It looks like a grab for oil, with minerals also in play. It’s really starting to sound more like an invasion.

But all of that's gone because the rules & institutions of Twitter were replaced by the rules & institutions of X. The goals of Musk's X are entirely different from those of Twitter's operators. He has an affirmative political agenda & bends the whole platform to advance it. X's bias is intentional

We all know this, & it's boring to repeat. We can *wish* for a space to discuss ideas across political difference on fair terms, like Twitter did—but X doesn't. X isn't designed to do that, but rather to advance a broad right extremism. Pretending otherwise is a lie, perhaps inflected with nostalgia

Miller's arguments are that "Third World" can't assimilate and that 1965 immigration act unraveled social cohesion.

But these are absurd claims. I took them on here. If you want to talk "social cohesion," Trump/Miller are doing more to erode it than immigrants are.

The theory of power that says conservatives as a whole, and young right-wing men in particular, are victims repressed by the left-wing forces dominating society is, in a word, insane.

It cannot possibly be addressed, because it's not true. It's just rationalization for hatred and hurting others.
The New Right's Theory of Power is Insane
It is simply not true that radical leftists took over all major institutions and use them to crush the right, and mainstream figures should stop being afraid to say so
