Is this cheese grater conscious? Many users feel they're talking to a real person. Scientists say it's time to consider whether they're onto something.

@thisdaypod.com I really don’t mind some pointers to cool other podcasts but any chance on turning down the number of “you might also like” posts? Between those and archive episodes that’s more than half the feed I have to go in to manually skip.

I still remember how a naive younger version of me was like “oh yeah I totally would like to be on the e-mail list of this candidate I like so I can hear what they’re up to”. Sigh

Also love how donating to candidates I believe in means every Dem across the country gets my e-mail address.
People donate! They thank us for the updates! They appreciate that we don't treat them like marks and the best respondents send me pictures of their cats.

I think that's because people *want* to be involved in politics, but they don't want to be treated like idiots or dollar signs. 6/

Working from an office was really, really healthy for me.

It got me out of the house every day. It got me exercising. A 30-45 min walk or bike ride each way was perfect.

I had better work/life boundaries. I left my laptop at work. I had more friends. My social batteries were much bigger.

I'll be honest though, I'm pretty irritated with the state of discourse around this topic on bsky.

Believe it or not, a lot of people are quitting their remote jobs and looking to return to office.

A lot of companies have struggled to make remote teams work.

We have something to learn from them.

I can’t wait till we have our first “Excel interpreted these protein names as dates” style data error in a scientific paper caused by the researcher asking ChatGPT to write a script that winds up having an error in it.

I’ve had this for so long that I forget not everyone does this, but turn off push notifications on your phone for when you get a new e-mail. Nothing that comes in an e-mail is ever urgent.

A lot of people who would have never bothered doing price comparison when shopping for flights because they were so loyal to WN (and probably thought their fares were still competitive) are about to start doing just that and WN is going to lose a ton of loyal customers.
Southwest is now gonna charge for checked bags on regular fares.

One reason why I think respectability is stupid is because it's often used as a mask. Such judgements are rarely about the clothes themselves, but more often about the bodies beneath them. To wit, no one raised an issue when Elon wore a graphic t-shirt and ball cap to meet the Trump cabinet.
