Cordelia. Her/She. From NYC, by way of London. Probably procrastinating. A book lover, I fangirl over random stuff and sometimes, I gripe about them. Striving to be a responsible adult for my kid. I don’t reply to DM, unless I know you.

Looks like the Dems will pick up 12 seats in the VA House of Delegates, which will go from 51-49 to 63-37 D-R. That's an honestly shocking result.

Teen Vogue’s Last Black Women Writers Laid Off as Vogue Merger Erases Diversity Legacy
Teen Vogue once represented a radical shift in youth media. It was a media space where young Black women reshaped fashion journalism into political commentary and social critique. That era is now over. Following Condé Nast’s November merger, folding Teen Vogue into Vogue.com, the publication has laid off its final two Black women writers, along with its entire politics team.

Voted for Mamdani.

I can’t wait to watch Zohran Mamdani wipe the floor with Andrew Cuomo tonight. All the bigoted assholes who endorsed him or stoked fear can cry about it. We’re New Yorkers — we don’t take kindly to fear-mongering.

This timeline is so bleak. It’s hard to hold on to hope with greedy corporations and a fascist government run by incompetent, malevolent megalomaniacs.

This is the standard approach through history: The community of the free. We've always had people insist on liberty, but only for their group, typically white men with property. Progressive liberalism was about rolling out those rights for everyone, a process that is now being reversed.
All political tribes can be hypocritical but the right's current level of hypocrisy on free speech is deliberate. It's an assertion of power not a blindspot.

If you spent even one second of the last decade indulging the free speech claims made by the American right in earnest, I genuinely think you're lacking in intelligence. I do not think you have what it takes to deliver sound commentary on American politics.

I happened to watch this documentary by chance.

Unknown Number on Netflix was disturbing.

This is not a catfish. This was a grown woman praying on children. Why wasn’t this predator charged with communication of obscene material with minors? #UnknownNumberNetflix

The U.K. government fired their ambassador to the U.S. over ties to Epstein — and now they're rolling out the red carpet for Donald Trump like he's a conquering hero. Make it make sense.
Why in this Mandelson saga are we ignoring the elephant in the room? That we’re about to welcome and honour a man who was a great pal of Epstein and who continues to lie about that every day?

An antisemite shot two kids in Colorado, at least one of whom is Jewish.

The White House “fighting antisemitism” doesn’t care, because the shooter was a student radicalized online into far right beliefs, which the regime is cool with, rather than a student verbally criticizing Israeli govt policy.

Social media accounts that appear to be connected to the 16-year-old shooter are littered with references to mass shootings and antisemitic views, The Denver Post found.

Let me check I’ve got this right. Someone calling for entirely innocent foreign-born people to be burned alive at a time of serious social unrest is a free speech champion who must be feted. And some calling them & their hideous promoters in politics & media racist is a menace who must be silenced.

Exactly this. One recurring realisation from my attempts to educate myself about Charlie Kirk is that he would have had no career at all if his supporters’ characterisations of college campuses were even close to accurate.
1) Young conservative activist held many well-attended events on many college campuses debating left-wing arguments

2) Campuses are rigidly orthodox places that don't allow conservative ideas, let alone open debate

These are contradictory! 1 disproves 2!

Reason has gone out the window with this.
