Watched Chou Kaguya-hime tonight!
Such a fun and refreshing watch, just exploding with creativity and love and amusing visual ideas. It's probably just my biases, but if you put together a movie that feels like a mash-up of Kyousougiga, Macross F (mini-Rankas anyone?), and Yozakura Quartet... yeah.

Watched Chou Kaguya-hime tonight!
Such a fun and refreshing watch, just exploding with creativity and love and amusing visual ideas. It's probably just my biases, but if you put together a movie that feels like a mash-up of Kyousougiga, Macross F (mini-Rankas anyone?), and Yozakura Quartet... yeah.

It sort of feels weird to say, but episode 3 is the first time I think Shiboyugi came across as overconfident in its material (and perhaps its delivery).
I know the flashback thing is almost a structural cliche in a death game narrative like this, but I don't think Mishiro's backstory adds much.

What if I wrote a crossover blog post on Yofukashi no Uta and Ikoku Nikki?
The second episode of Ikoku Nikki was soooooooo good.
The dialogue between Makio and Daigo was amazing, and I loved Makio's reunion with her (very understanding but not a pushover) ex.
I love how they make clear that Makio actually does understand people, even if she struggles with communication.
