To me that does seem a bit idealistic as I think the ship on using it responsibly has already sailed; it's already massively environmentally destructive, it's already encouraging suicidal kids to kill themselves, it's already spreading misinfo on a massive scale

Kind of said this in my previous post but simply fight against the idea that it's something we have to accept as a fixture in our lives - avoiding using it, encouraging others to do the same, educating people on its harms with the aim of discouraging acceptance

I recognize my position is probably somewhat extreme lol 😅 I just think the moment we accept it as here to stay and not something that needs to earn its position in our lives the battle for controlling it is lost

Obviously there are positive use cases; but I don't think those are compelling or useful enough to overcome the bad ones

I understood you! I just don't fully agree; like you, I think we should develop guardrails, but I personally think the technology's destructive capacities on a environmental, societal, and human level are an ethical reason to fight against its presence, even if it's a losing battle

i've been talking with family about ai & while i agree that the "ai is bad and is stealing" point is too simplistic on its own, i don't think we have to just accept it. there are enough other reasons that gen ai is unethical t stand against it while also trying to figure out guardrails. both and imo

My entire generation has grown up watching the Lions get destroyed every Thanksgiving. It is weird that they are good now but I am happy for them.
