All sorts of rubbish about football, tech and anything else. All views are mine, mine I tell you!
I told my wife to "lie back and think of England". She closed her eyes and said "You really think they'd have realised Bazball wasn't the answer after the first test!" #England #cricket

I've just turned on Test Match Special for the first time this Ashes tour and the teams have gone off for rain. I'm the lucky omen England have needed all along!

Thank you to whoever at #NFFC and/or Utrecht organised the fanzone to watch this evening's game. It's been absolutely brilliant.

I've travelled abroad, spent more money than I'd like to admit, all for a football match I've haven't got a ticket for.
And, so far, it's been brilliant.

Let me get this right.
On one hand, a piece of cloth showing a pattern that represents someone's identity - say, the union flag - should be shown everywhere.
But, a piece of cloth showing a pattern that represents someone's identity - say, the pride flag - is offensive and should be removed.
Spurs capitulating to opposition bigotry like this is shameful.

Derby v Leeds in the FA Cup. Should be primetime on the BBC just to show Lee v Hunter and all that.
Kids, this is football!

Somehow this got missed off the "Benefit Street" front pages today
70% of the additional spending from removing the two-child limit will go to families who are in work. This is targeting support for low-income working households who are being priced out of a decent standard of living despite doing everything asked of them.

The newspapers you'd expect to miss the point of the Covid inquiry completely miss the point of the Covid inquiry, or ignore the fact it happened completely.

I assume the number of small boats crossing the channel is going down as the enemy now seems to be couples who dare to have had more than two children.
There's always someone below us to blame!

The more things change, the more they stay the same. Billy Connolly talking in 1976. Watch for 30 seconds and replace the words" Indian ands Pakistanis" with the words" people in small boats".

According to an advert I've just watched, 8 year olds can now afford to buy their mother's gifts from Pandora. That's quite an economic miracle that's happened in the UK in the week I've been away.

It surely coincidence that the Conservatives seem to attack Labour about something on days senior Conservative officials are facing the COVID inquiry.

Asking here a question I've asked elsewhere about the PPE MedPro debacle. If we can go after old people to pay for care home fees, why can't we go after former company directors for breaking the law?

Dickie Bird came to Nottingham once to do a speakers evening and he was as warm, funny and eccentric as you'd have hoped. Happy to pose for photos, sign autographs and just have a chat. We've lost a lovely character.
Great knock sir!

I believe the technical term is "nailed on" red card.
At least we can stop all the "too early to give a red" crap going forward now.

Patreon have emailed me to suggest I "catch up" with my favourite creators and listen to episode 104, 158 and 275 of @lordshortcake.bsky.social excellent Treehouse.
Given episode 104 was released on June 27th 2021, I think Patreon are as far behind as some of the recent contributors.

Going ahead in games hasn't been England's problem, it's what they do once they take the lead. Need to keep this pace up, keep the forward momentum going and not sit on the bloody lead! #ENGAND

Stop saying "But that Tory did it". They held themselves to lower standards.
Stop saying "But NF does it". He's helped by a compliant media and can afford to have very few standards.
What we must do is hold future ministers (and their bosses) up to the same standard Angela Rayner held herself to.

"Best thing I can do is to go to a team who does not play in <europe>. So a club at the bottom in England who needs a coach in two years, I am ready to go."
He's off to Manchester United isn't he!
