So delighted to have IT ENDS premiering in competition at SXSW! I can’t wait for people to see the movie, and meet a bunch of exciting new actors, producers, and writer/director Alex Ullom!

I just don't believe every writer who spends hours arguing about script formatting online actually gets any writing done.

No matter how often I want to skip the outlining process and go straight to script, I always end up back to the drawing board building story one beat at a time.

Best movie I saw this year was probably The Graduate.

I wanna express that I find no enjoyment in disliking a film that everyone else seems to love. I actually get upset at myself for finding too many flaws because at the end of day, I want to be sobbing along with yall in the theater. All that to say... this year, almost every movie disappointed me.

This whole year for me....
I would trade all 27 of these 3.5 star movies for one 5-star classic.

I think it's always white LA transplants who think LA is lonely. They feel isolated 'cause it's the first time they've been in a place that's not predominantly white. I've never felt more in community in my life.

When #WGA writers unite...we win.

Verrry late last night, our heroic members and staff made a tentative agreement with PBS that includes first-ever union protections for ANIMATION WRITERS.

writer friends, meet Jackie!!
Ok ok ok! This is really weird!! But hello!!!

Going to use my first post as an accountability holder to myself: by this time next year I will be multiple drafts into my first feature screenplay. I will no longer be serving coffee to pay the bills. I will be more confident off&online!

Tho less common, every show I've worked on in the last 3-4 years has had one to three staff writers. And if they have a second season, they've been promoted. Obviously, we are talking about a systemic problem rather than an anecdotal one -- but just trying to share some hope that it still happens!
You know how like 20 years ago showrunners gave new writers a shot and hired staff writer level people and like guided them through the levels of writing for tv and stuff? Is anyone doing that now? Because back then I was in middle school but now I’d like to be having that

Eh. Personally, when I find myself in this mindset, I realize I'm simply finding a way to procrastinate. Shorter names helps with page count. Try not to have names that start with the same letter. And make them memorable. But mostly, don't get stuck on it. It'll change many times.
Hey, #scriptsky! When you develop characters, how much thought do you put into their names? Do you pick names out of a hat? Do you create an entire lore behind a name to make it make sense? Do your names foreshadow the character’s fate?

Legit question for working writers: because I'm single (not really looking to date), don't have kids, family is in a different state, and always have some writing deadline -- I feel deeply uninteresting rn. Like all I can talk to my friends about is... work stuff? Advice on a fuller life?

I just wanted to say my wife and I love ACAPULCO. My summer job in the early 80s was pool boy at the Hotel Del Coronado resort, and my father worked at a beach resort in Puerto Vallarta during the late 80s / early 90s. Your show brings back a lot of memories. You got the vibe just right.

Hey! I used to be VERY active on WriterTwitter before Elon took over. I even got my first staff writer job from it! I'm a gen z, queer, immigrant. I've written on many comedy series (some which were gone too soon) and I'm now a Co-Producer on Apple TV's "Acapulco" & breaking into features. AMA.
