A month since the Cumbria Wildlife Trust announced their bid to buy and ecologically revive Skiddaw Forest. They're 91% of the way there, but donations have slowed.

Chip in if you can to help get them over the line. And please share this post.

Especially if there's a festival & they've got some of the cheesemakers there. I was a bit surprised that most of them were quite young with small children.
Another shout out for the Courtyard Dairy, their Festivals of Cheese etc.

If you’re anywhere near the A65 and Settle, give them a try.

And todsy's jaunt, given that we've just had two successice days of sunny weather, was on the old main road from Settle to Long Preston. This is the view from near Hunter Bark looking over to the "main" road to Airton with Attermire Scar in the distance.

Okay I think you are ready for this BlueSky. Let's talk cheese history.

More specifically, Yorkshire Dales cheeses, and how WW2 and rationing almost wiped out cheesemaking in northern Britain.

This is the story of the near-death of the world of one of the world's great cheeses: Wensleydale. /1 🧵

Hmm, don't seem to have posted here for a while, so here's a photo of the River Skirfare in Littondale. Yes, there's no water flowing, but that's not because it's dry - the river's goes underground when the flow drops.

Just back from a trip to Skipton. Used the ticket office & bkught tickets for Leeds for tomorrow. One card transaction rather than 4! Also asked if tickets for Settle could be used for Giggleswick - they can - & got a Dales railcard form. A ticket machine couldn't have done much of this.
