UPMC is choosing to cancel gender affirming care for Trans kids and 18 & 19 year old adults.

The desire to offload suffering onto successive generations is wild.
Young people SHOULD “have it easier” than you did. I’m sorry you got the strap up hill both ways and paid your debts with pounds of flesh, but the reason we work for progress is to make growing up and growing old gentler, easier, kinder, freer. Struggle isn’t necessary in a healthy society.

I’m sure biologists have thought about this much more deeply than me, but it seems like you can’t ever fully “de-extinct” a social animal because its communities contained a great deal of information and social practice that were as much a part of the species as its genome and are now lost forever.
