I made a little choreographic programming DSL in rust that let's you write session typed protocols in a concise, safe way: hxrts.com/rumpsteak-au...

Using it for a personal project and it works quite well.

this is interesting. my experience with ecosystem funds is they tend to suffer an adverse selection problem (quality projects typically want financing from bluechip tech funds which don’t want an ecosystem limitation) BUT this could extend the overton window for atproto becoming broadly investable.
I'm excited to announce @skyseed.fund, the world's first incubator & fund exclusively focused on Bluesky and @atproto.com.

We're just getting started but have $1 Million in committed capital, and will be doing developer grants as well as pre-seed/seed funding.

I’d like to see a plot over time of atproto appview market share.

suggestion for decentralized moderation of legitimate accounts:
- add the ability to tag an account as fraudulent on profile pages
- if a sufficient number of the people you follow have tagged that account as fraudulent, hide them from your feed

lots of ways to improve this, but good first pass

is there a feed that’s just the bluesky staff? when there’s a product update I often want to quickly skim the dev team’s comments rather than bluesky marketing channels

Building software for a multi-chain world is complex. It involves navigating diverse VMs, consensus mechanisms, fee models, bridges, signature schemes, and token standards. At the Columbia Cryptoecon Workshop @hxrts.bsky.social shared how TimewaveLabs is tackling it with a fresh software paradigm.🔑🕰️🌊

I’m interested in hiring someone to do a NixOS training session for my team. Rust engineers, but no prior Nix experience. Anyone y’all would recommend?

starting to realize there’s a correspondence between Arrow’s theorem and FLP impossibility. both identify trade-offs between consistent rules applied within a system vs progress toward a resolution.

private p2p networking is a fascinating problem space that’s barely been touched. only a handful of papers, but they combine ideas from mixnets and decentralized peer discovery.

why do crypto haters feel the need to spout their distain? like, even if it were all a scam why make your whole personality about this?

it obviously comes off as ignorant to anyone working in the industry, but also quite petty.

Ok, a rundown of how we get p2p ATProtocol going:

1. Run *standard* ATProto services, locally
2. Use p2p to holepunch TCP connections
3. Add a thin layer for peering management

Bundle all that up in an app, and we have a recipe for adding resilience & scaling to Bluesky. 🧵 teim:

dumb question: for starter packs if you "follow all" you're not subscribing to the whole pack as it changes over time, correct? I assume it's just a shortcut for following all listed accounts at that moment in time.

unfortunately this misunderstands the trade-off taken by protocolizing atproto. all data must be published to ensure the possibility of credible exit.

you can encrypt published data, however it’s beyond the state of the art to make a reencryption system that can support large fluctuating groups.
(3) I would love to see granular privacy settings on Bluesky. e.g., mutuals-only, followers-only (this would be my pick), or logged-in-accounts-only. This could in theory serve as a post-by-post form of consent, because non-public posts would be... not public.

tbh, more concerned about the user base becoming self-defeating than bluesky turning evil

Those calling for a TOS change to prevent scraping have completely lost the plot on what this platform is trying to achieve: protocol-enforced open access.

it’s typically more productive to game out adversarial scenarios, stating worst-case behavior the network should maintain. imo this is the one to start with:

a government puts pressure on bluesky pbc to censor content, users in that jurisdiction should be able to read/write to the network somehow
per usual, the term “decentralization” is fundamentally unhelpful for aligning on specific technical requirements
