Zucman puts it more emphatically. “I think democracy versus oligarchy is going to be the battle of the 21st century,” he says. “I don’t know how long it’s going to take for the Democratic Party to actually understand that.”

Anyone else would be devastated and embarrassed, but not Pam Bondi, for she has no soul
Raskin to Bondi: "You're not showing a lot interest in the victims. Whether it's Epstein's human trafficking ring or the homicidal government violence against citizens in Minneapolis, as AG you're siding with the perpetrators and ignoring the victims."

US Olympic Curling Team member speaks out against ICE:

"I'm proud to represent Team USA. But we'd be remiss if we didn't mention what's going on in Minnesota and what a tough time it's been. What's happening is wrong. There's no shades of gray."

in Denver (underground) music festival news, the UMS is coming back, but not in Baker anymore. Lots of mixed emotions, I went to maybe 20 of the 25 on Broadway, change is hard (change is good?) denverite.com/2026/02/09/u...
Why a big move for Denver’s longest-lived music festival is drawing mixed reactions
While many were relieved to see the Underground Music Showcase live on, others saw a betrayal of Broadway.

U.K. might lose a prime minister because a guy who worked for him knew another guy who hung out with Epstein. Meanwhile the U.S. opposition party is telling our President, who was Epstein's best friend, that his secret police should get better training so their public street murders look less messy.

Pam Bondi just sent a letter to Minnesota officials saying ICE will leave if the state turns over its voter database to Trump.

Guess what? This has never been about safety or immigration. It’s a pretext for Trump to take over elections in swing states.

Gestapo
From this moment forward (and before, but clearly now):

-If you work for ICE.
-If you vote for money for ICE.

You are complicit. This is the gestapo. You're on the wrong side. You can't pretend not to know.

ICE go home. This is all such an unnecessary and horrific tragedy.

Repeat after me - the institutions of this economy depend on the institutions of this democracy, among which is the rule of law
Jack Smith: "My fear is that we have seen the rule of law function in our country for so long that many of us have come to take it for granted. The rule of law is not self-executing. It depends on our collective commitment to apply it."

Unbelievable acts of racism, xenophobia, and cruelty.
Agents were caught on camera Sunday dragging a elderly grandfather out into the cold, wearing nothing but his basketball shorts and a blanket draped over his shoulders. The man is a U.S. citizen with no criminal record.

"Renee was brutally killed in her vehicle by an ICE agent, leaving behind a child." What the absolute fuck.
You and your wife drop your 6-year-old off at school. You just moved here. You see ICE terrorizing your new neighbors. You film them, as is your legal right. Your wife complies with orders. She is then shot in the head. You still have to pick up your child later today.

This could be you.

When historians attempt to analyse the wreckage of American democracy, they'll see Jan 6 as the moment that the brakes failed. It's clear that, in the days that followed, many tried to bring Trump's wreckless momentum to a halt, but when they hit the pedal, there was nothing there.
