Israel is celebrating the cease-fire by clobbering Jenin in the West Bank. At least 10 have been killed, dozens wounded and hundreds more have been arrested across the rest of the West Bank.
This is standard Israeli trolling; release 1000 in a hostage deal & kidnap 1500 to replace them

Zionist cheerleader the Anti-Defamation League insists this was just an 'awkward movement' rather than a fascist salute. They're equally insistent that attending an anti-genocide march makes you antisemitic & that lifelong anti-racist Jeremy Corbyn is evil. I guess Jeremy isn't funding them.
I think Adolph has had too much ketamine.

One of the reasons David Lynch's work meant so much to me is that he promised that no matter how ordinary-seeming the space you occupy, you contain an unmeasurable quantity of weirdness that deserves expression.
I am promising myself that from here on out, I will try to write even weirder.

Thatcher's right-to-buy policy has decimated the UK's housing stock and has allowed private landlords to expand their property portfolios and exploit renters.

The Green Party is clear. The government should scrap right-to-buy and invest properly in genuinely affordable housing.

Renters’ Rights Bill through the Commons. Now we’ll see how much the Lords try to mess about with it…

On track to be at least partially in force by the summer.

The Renters' Rights Bill is a welcome step towards improved living standards for renters.

But there's a gaping hole in the legislation...

We desperately need rent controls to stop tenants being treated as cash cows by landlords.

The G15 report on stigmatisation of people living in London's social housing is really critical reading. This chart is particularly revealing - the fact that the most stigma comes in interactions with their social landlord, but also general customer service, the council - it really is bleak

Former President Jimmy Carter was a wonderful person.

A lady walked into a restaurant where he and his family were eating.

There wasn’t anymore tables. The lady was going to leave.

Jimmy Carter invited her to sit down at their table to eat and she did.

To everyone's surprise, it turns out that attaching a money-sucking machine to a hospital system makes it worse.
Private equity reduces patient care while enriching investors, Senate report finds
The bipartisan investigation of hospital systems purchased by Apollo Global Management and Leonard Green & Partners reinforced the findings of past academic research.

With the incoming good but not good enough renters rights bill, the first half of 2025 will witness swathes of section 21s as rogue landlords panic. The second half will see mass evictions via (even for us) unusually high rent rises. Time to brace ourselves and stand together
