* The Reformatory continues to astound me with its reception. It took me seven years of pain to write and won a Bram Stoker Award, L.A. Times Book Prize, Shirley Jackson Prize, Chautauqua Award and was a New York Times Notable Book.

I hate that horrible feeling you get when it feels like something is about to happen. It feels like you’re standing on the edge of a cliff looking down. Or waiting for a rollercoaster to drop. Except it’s constant, and you have high adrenaline for zero reason for a while.
