Yep. Many, if not most, Americans assume that the civilization we enjoy today just happened, as if ordained by some deity ... but it didn't. It was built the hard way - the only way anything worth having gets built - and now our petulant man-child "president" is trying to destroy it all.
A good government builds and funds great infrastructure to allow private businesses to thrive. This was the entire point of Obama’s “you didn’t build that” speech. The private sector forgets and/or denies this at their peril.
So it turns out... the US air travel system was incredibly, deeply dependent on federal funding to just run day-to-day all this time, to the benefit of private airline shareholders, when everyone thinks that state-run trains are leeching off the government. Weird!

The destruction of the East Wing really bums me out in a way that I wasn't expecting.
I guess some of it is about the destruction of history. But I think it's mostly about the feeling of helplessness. There's nothing we can do to stop him.
