I don’t have the appropriate words to describe how vile this is. What has this country become?

Please support @propublica.org so they can continue to shine a light on the truth. Their reporting is unparalleled.

I am beside myself over this decision. This decision, in a state with the highest population of vulnerable elderly patients, is going to kill untold numbers of people over time.

@elizabethjacobs.bsky.social summarizes the impact accurately.
What happens when vaccine coverage collapses in Florida because they are ending vaccine requirements for school entry?

1. Disease outbreaks that end up hospitalizing and killing infants too young to be vaccinated by responsible parents, the elderly whose immunity wanes, and the immunocompromised.

Thankfully, our medical community is stepping up and providing the guidance the public needs. Please listen. And share!
The government has failed us.

“researchers were surprised to find that the loss of water on the continents has grown so dramatically that it has become one of the largest causes of global sea level rise.”

Mind boggling.
Nearly 6 billion people live in the 101 countries that a new study has identified as confronting a net decline in water supply — signaling enormous challenges for food production and a heightening risk of conflict and instability.

I’m tired of hearing from some peers how we “need to hear out” the MAGA/MAHA point-of-view on health — in their effort to be the “adult” in the room.

Engaging in false equivalences and normalizing nonsense as serious debate will not move us towards some greater enlightenment.

Incredibly discouraging.
Federal kindergarten vaccination data shows national rates for four major vaccines, which had held steady before the COVID-19 pandemic, have fallen significantly since.

In fact, measles vaccination rates were below herd immunity in most states in 2023.

Important thread.
This is a travesty & a nightmare. The US was a founder of @gavi.org. It lowers global vaccine costs, has vaccinated 1B children, & averted 19M deaths. This pull out will cost 100s of thousands of children's lives a year - and RFK Jr will be personally responsible.

Carl Sagan was my hero growing up. Contact, his only work of fiction, challenged the way I thought about our world.

I like to watch the opening scene from the movie occasionally to remind me how precious each of us are, in spite of the enormity of our universe.

Enjoy.
