Episcopalian, recently moved from California to New Mexico. Learning to live in the high desert.
Can anyone recommend a specifically Episcopalian blog article (or similar) about blessing objects? I'm thinking around the subject at the moment. ⚓

Big day for me yesterday! I wore a cassock and surplice for the first time. Officiated at Sunday Morning Prayer for the second time. Still can't really believe I'm doing this! 📕

Per @sirocyl:

"ah yes, the classical Pope-Antipope annihilation - which yields either two Jesuits through schismatic pontifaction, or emits a Cardinal via the interregnum mechanism.

Through quantum vacuum fluctuations, a Jesuit pair may reconclave into a Pope by emitting sedevacant radiation."

Landmark day for me tomorrow: it's my first time preaching at a Sunday service. I'm doing three services at three locations, with the third a slightly different format. I'm up for the challenge, but it's also daunting. Prayers appreciated! ⚓

My first time in a role wearing vestments this Sunday. It's a cassock-alb. Are there vesting prayers? #Episcopal

Winding down from the Epiphany blessing of chalk - job's not finished until the receipts are submitted - and ramping up for the Candlemas blessing of candles. 🕯️

Biden has commuted almost all federal death row. This is indeed a good day to do the Lord's work. I'm thankful to so many religious leaders and justice advocates who helped make this possible. I pray for victims' families, knowing that wishing for death is not a healing course.

Those affected by the president’s action on Monday are still subject to life imprisonment without the possibility of parole. Three men will remain on federal death row.

Opinions wanted! What's the best chalk for chalking lintels at #Epiphany? Any other tips from experience for the blessing of chalk?⚓

Just a reminder that if you’re going to argue politics during Thanksgiving, you might as well get it going as early as possible, that way if somebody gets mad and storms out you can totally have their deviled eggs, follow me for more holiday tips

Utterly proud of fabulous @robminchin.bsky.social for proposing a resolution for an anti-harassment policy in our diocese, agreeing to sit on a committee about it, and getting the final resolution passed 98:2! Our church will be a safer place for it. #TEC #DioceseOfTheRioGrande
Now voting on the resolution to ask council to develop a harassment policy (based on the guidelines passed by national general convention result this year). This was the constitution & canons commission substitution for my original resolution.

In Puerto Rico, the tradition, as I learnt it from my neighbour, is to pray for someone on the anniversary of their death for seven years.
Seven years ago today, Hurricane Maria hit Puerto Rico, leading (after a botched response by a racist US government) to over 3,000 deaths.
Pray for Puerto Rico.

Cheering for all those Returning Officers who announce the number of spoiled ballot papers! Electors have a strong obligation to vote, but deliberately spoiling your ballot paper is an option if you truly don't want any of them. #GeneralElection2024
