curlew and skylark, reed bunting, snake’s head fritillaries and narrow-leaved water-dropwort, clutch to a disappearing world.
Today these meadows are under threat. Please help: www.herefordshirewt.org/news/lugg-me...

A magnificent crack willow, found in boggy corner whilst hunting for glacial ponds in @herefordshirewt.bsky.social‬ Sturts reserve.

Name is not a drug reference (though willows are valued for their pain-relieving properties), but for its habit of splitting and developing deep cracks.

A lovely morning spent carrying out riverfly monitoring by a cool, shady stream.
A great way to check on the health of a stream or river and be alerted to any pollution incidents.

Some highlights from Tretawdy Farm this morning: Ruby-tailed wasp, slow worm, small skipper & common spotted orchid. A very underrated HWT reserve: it’s messiness makes it excellent for invertebrates, reptiles and mammals. @herefordshirewt.bsky.social
