Ahh, another sign of #spring spotted in #Worcestershire this week.💛

This time from the unusual early flowering plant, lords-and-ladies. Look out for its distinctive pale green sheath surrounding a purple or yellow 'spadix' that eventually produces a distinctive upright stalk of bright red berries.

Male catkins of alder adding a splash of winter colour as they dangle like tiny tassels from bare branches, hinting that spring is on its way. 🪾🩷

Thanks to our colleague Ion for sharing some snaps from his recent trip to #BroadwayGravelPit.

This seasonally-flooded former gravel pit is home to a wide range of #birds throughout the year. The pools and marshy areas are wonderful for #plants, with more than 160 species recorded there.

We love a bit of texture in nature 🌿🪸

Our #NaturalNetworks colleague Becca spotted this poplar absolutely draped in #moss and #lichen in Churchill last week.

January is a great time to spot owls.

With shorter days, it can become easier to see them hunting at dusk. Keep a lookout over fields and meadows - you might hear one before you see it! 🦉❄️

It's been raining? ☔😁

Our hardy volunteers don't let a bit of sogginess stop them from getting stuck in! Here's some of our roving and #Monkwood #volunteers taking a break from coppicing a ride & creating lots of opportunities for flowers & insects in spring 🌸🐝🦋

THANK YOU to all our volunteers 👏🙌

Have you spotted any snowdrops yet? 🤍

We love to see their tiny white bells pushing through the cold earth, brightening the winter months and heralding the start of spring. Our colleague Dom snapped these at one of our reserves last week 🌱
