I've been hit by cars twice as a pedestrian, woke up to someone trying to stab me, multiple MCAS events, got hit in the head by a hood after driving under a semi, rolled a car off the road, spinal damage that impacted my heart & lungs, and a second stabbing attempt. That's just the highlights.

If you've spent your entire life feeling like you're not quite as pretty as the other girls because that was the barometer of value during your lifetime, and then you see someone who was born male and feel like they're more classically feminine than you, I can imagine thats pretty hard to process*.
I maintain that a substantial amount of transphobia in cis women is actually projected insecurity of their own self-image within a rigid gendered framework.

This reminds me of something that gets said in the Widow community, where just because you have a dead spouse doesn't make you a good person.

What we're seeing in the "don't sign up for protests" discourse is what Paulo Freire described as the convert's failure to trust the knowledge of the oppressed. As the convert tries to stand in solidarity with the oppressed, they refuse to let go of a world where they were the authority by default.
