Creative protest. Love it.
In Monrovia, California, protesters are purchasing 17¢ ICE scrapers from Home Depot and immediately returning them to create long lines and slow down the entire store. Their aim is to disrupt sales and convey a message opposing ICE raids occurring in their neighborhood.

‘The night is darkening round me,
The wild winds coldly blow;
But a tyrant spell has bound me
And I cannot, cannot go.
The giant trees are bending
Their bare boughs weighed with snow.
And the storm is fast descending,
And yet I cannot go.’ ~ E Brontë #BookWormSat

I voted for Valérie Plante twice. But as someone who lives on the Plateau, I've developped a "somewhat negative opinion" of Luc Rabouin. Can't stomach an Ensemble Montréal win, though.

I press play on a TV series I quite enjoy and immediately grab my phone "just" to answer a few texts. Our brains are not OK.

I'm a sucker for any show or movie about journalism, so I was really looking forward to watching The Lowdown, which stars Ethan Hawke no less. But it's streaming on Disney+, which I had to cancel.

Guys, I've had it with bringing my own bags to the store. I know who I'm voting for! 🤣

💯 What conservatives should be asked every single time they promise to axe taxes 💯
What Mr Poilievre won’t tell you:

2/3 of the federal budget is spent on pensions, health care, provincial transfers, welfare, defence and debt servicing.

If you are promising to lower taxes, where will you cut spending?

Which one of the above areas will Pierre Poilievre AXE Services?

Mark Carney v. Chrystia Freeland: Does Canada want a daddy banker to whip the economy into shape ... which never means caring for the vulnerable? OR does Canada want a feminist mommy to break that glass ceiling and pave the way to ... nothing terribly revolutionary, just kinda different?

Same. Anna Karenina yesterday and today War and Peace.
Oh really something called "TickTock" closed down? Sorry I was too busy rereading Tolstoy to notice

I refuse to shut up about this: NYC started charging $9 to bring a car into our most transit-rich zone, the haters & trolls predicted doom, but traffic evaporated instantly and here’s Times Square tonite (even after the holiday tourists have left). For a better future, build transit & price driving!

Writing tip: After you finish, go back & cut all the adverbs. Then all the adjectives. Then all the other words. Eat the paper. Now you're free.

I'm trying to use the concept of the "hinge role" from polyamory to explain something about identity in autofiction.

I don't bake much, so I like making easy desserts like this chocolate bark. Semi-sweet chocolate topped with roasted hazelnuts, white chocolate, and salt crystals.

I'm making hazelnut chocolate bark and am tempted to add dried cranberries for some festive colour. Yay or Nay? (This may be a divisive issue 🙃)

I can understand the relief and euphoria in Syria. The Assads terrorized the country. But I worry about what comes next. I'd like to hear the perspective of a Kurdish person...

I'm editing my historical fiction short story/novella & looking for inspiration. I read a sample of Olga Tokarczuk's The Empusium. Everything I tried to read after that felt like biting into an orange slice after eating triple-chocolate brownie.

While writing the dissertation chapter that was due several days ago, it becomes imperative to clean those little specks of dust out of those parts of the light switch that you can only get at with a toothpick.
