A wildcard for a medieval-themed tarot (that might or might not happen in the near future) where I had complete artistic freedom for the subject! ✨
So I went with "what if courtly love at the tournament, but make it gay?" 💜

Client: 78 Tarot
Scene at a tournament in the 1300s: A knight in full armor on his horse (only without the helmet, which a page is carrying) rides up to a richly decorated stand of spectators. Subverting the expectation that he'd ask for a "lady's favor", he instead receives said favor from another, younger man who is tying a ribbon around the knight's jousting lance. Ladies look on surprised/shocked/delighted.

Worth noting that they shuttered the CIA Fact Book with little warning and in the middle of the school year. Teachers have already built projects around using this research tool. There are students right now who were using it and lost access. Disruption and disarray is the intention here.

The slow decimation of kidlit nonfiction, esp in YA, combined with the collapse of verified/scholarly online sources is a bigger problem than many people realize. My options as a high school librarian are 1) pay tens of thousands for databases, 2) buy adult nonfiction and university press titles.
