Democrats, we need to talk.

These 8 senators let themselves get played by Republicans on reopening the government, and every one of us knew exactly how this would go. They handed Republicans the only leverage we had in the healthcare fight.

BILL BURR: “If someone’s working 160 hours a month and can’t make their rent, you’re not paying them enough. Maybe you should just be worth $900,000,000… How does a CEO take a f*cking 8 figure bonus and none of your employees have dental insurance?”

In addition to 5 years of social media history, CBP would also require tourists to provide all phone numbers used over that period, any email addresses used in the past decade, DNA and iris scans, and the names, addresses, birthdates and birthplaces of family members

Authoritarianism is bad enough.
It's even worse when the authoritarian is a convicted felon, an adjudicated rapist, a racist, a serial liar, a convicted scam artist, a mentally-disturbed grudge holder, and a greedy imbecile with the mentality, vocabulary, and comprehension skills of a fourth-grader.

The ECOA passed in 1974.
My mom divorced my dad in 1975.

These things are not unrelated. She was finally able to establish her own credit, buy a house, start her own business… all thanks to the ECOA.

1975 was the best year of my childhood too, when my abusive dad finally went away.

Thank you for speaking out. We need more Jewish organizations to call out this hate.
This is a pure, unadulterated call for genocide from a sitting Member of Congress.

Respectable, decent public officials don’t target vulnerable communities – cowards do.

ALL of our safety is intertwined. This bigotry and violent hatred make every last one of us less safe.

This. This was the formative event of my generation & our entire politics in 🇺🇸. The structural break after which we were no longer a full democracy, when 5 Wizards In Robes decided they were a super-legislature & counting all the actual votes didn’t matter. The rest has been 25 years of commentary.
25 years ago today, SCOTUS elected George W Bush president of the United States by blocking completion of a voting canvass in Florida. A subsequent canvass by the Associated Press showed that Bush's rival, Al Gore, had won the race in Florida—and thus the contest for the presidency—by 700 votes.

They say that possession is nine tenths of the law.

Trump's asserted pardon of state crimes is arguably no wilder than some of his other actions that have, ridiculously, found traction in federal court.

But in this case Colorado has the prisoner, and Trump doesn't, and that will end the matter.

I don't have kids, but this is an absolutely batshit way to talk about your own son, right?
Trump on his wife's legislative initiative: "I just heard about that for the first time. The only thing I can tell you, I know one thing for sure, it's going to be great for children. I don't know what it is she's doing. She loves children. She's got a wonderful boy. And she's very proud of her boy"

If they’re only blowing up narco boats, boats they are certain are carrying tons of drugs, why would she need to worry?

It’s almost as if…
Nobel Peace Prize Winner María Corina Machado’s escape from Venezuela was particularly risky because her team had to inform the US military that she was escaping so they wouldn’t mistake her boat for an alleged narco boat and bomb it.
