#ArtAdventCalendar Day 29. Social media is great because years ago the odds of running into some weirdo screaming about minorities was comparatively low but now you can experience that constantly in a nice easy-to-digest feed right in the palm of your hand.

#ArtAdventCalendar Day 27. I like to imagine that the Earth is stuck in a time loop and every few billion years it resets, but every other planet just continues linearly, so aliens like to visit Earth every now and then to see if the Earthlings did anything new on the current loop.

Andrew Kadel @DrewKadel@social.coop My daughter, who's had a degree in computer science for 25 years, posted this about ChatGPT on Facebook. It's the best description I've seen. Something that seems fundamental to me about ChatGPT, which gets lost over and over again: When you enter text into it, you're asking "What would a response to this sound like?" If you put in a scientific question, and it comes back with a response citing a non-existent paper with a plausible title, using a real journal name and an author name who's written things related to your question, it's not being tricky or telling lies or doing anything at all surprising! This is what a response to that question would sound like! It did the thing! But people keep wanting the "say something that sounds like an answer" machine to be doing something else, and believing it *is* doing something else. It's good at generating things that sound like responses to being told it was wrong, so people think that it's engaging in introspection or looking up more information or something, but it's not, it's only, ever, saying something that sounds like the next bit of the conversation.

A simple one for #ArtAdventCalendar Day 25, and the only one even tangentially related to Christmas (I originally drew all of these in October, so a snowman is the closest we'll get).

Outside the window a generic American suburban neighborhood is visible. Notably, the sun has a smiley face on it that also appears to be made of coal, much like the snowman's smile.

#ArtAdventCalendar Day 20. A fun two-parter where I pitched a fun children's show where Mr. Thinks would reach kids about different actions and the tools that could help them in performing those actions. It would've been quality content for children ages 4-9, but unfortunately, Mr. Thinks died.

#ArtAdventCalendar Day 18. This is the one where you roll your eyes and say "Oh, look who took a single Art History course in college" but then the joke would be on you, because the reality is that I just spend too much time on Wikipedia and that's how I learned about all these things.

#ArtAdventCalendar Day 17. I like the title of this one. Much simpler than most of the others, but I think it's a solid goof.
