I heard later that the petrified individual in the corner may have arrived late on purpose because he liked being immobilized but that's just a rumor.

My own artwork from a couple of years ago. I think those whole "Put a flag and a Constitution in every classroom" laws were all about making someone money. I did get to use the wooden flagpole while talking about deflection curves (EIy''''=w) and BVP's. That's gotta be worth something!

It occurred to me this morning that Trump is like Mrs. Olsen from Little House on the Prairie. Both look down contemptuously on the people they make profits from and constantly look for ways to cheat them. Though sometimes a small bit of humanity leaks through it’s gone by the next episode.

Commission from @kaputotter.bsky.social showing me and Westhoff's javelina character playing a Neo Geo arcade unit. @westhoff.bsky.social made the screenshot featured on the machine. The sprites are our bear characters done by Hiker on FA, set against a King of Fighters stage background. Love it.

I had to memorize a lot of Luther’s Small Catechism. Looking at this picture, the opening phrase “You shall fear and love God so that…” came immediately to mind. You shall FEAR and LOVE, in that order.

I hesitated about sharing this one since it’s mean but…honestly. I think most teachers have had moments when they thought this to themselves.

Today we're starting to study Laplace transformations in the DE class. I imagined running a TF panel at a con (run by a cockatrice!?) and springing this on the attendees after locking the doors. "This isn't what I signed up for!!" #Furry #Math

October 6th is National Badger Day, a celebration to all things badger. Decided to do all my badger characters again, and added the Caucasian Badger, who officially became a different subspecies of badger in 2013. welcome to the badgerdom.

When you get cornered at parties by drunk mathemachickens, desperate measures are necessary. Look directly at the basilisk’s eyes and you won’t have to listen anymore. #BasiliskAdvice #Petrification

A compass barrel cactus that had been there since I started working fell down over the weekend; we had at least an inch of rain. I lost another compass barrel in my front yard for the same reason a few years ago.

CDC applies “individual-based decision-making” for vaccinations. Sounds a lot like our “informed advising” experiment where students were informed about prerequisite classes but could choose to ignore them and sign up for whatever they wanted. (Spoiler: it didn’t work very well.)

By an artist named Watergazer who was once on FA. I think this one came before the other abacus picture I posted two weeks ago. I may be running out of education or math inspired artwork soon, not enough to make it through the whole semester! Maybe time to dig up cash for more art.

If I made the Linear Algebra test too easy, then I made the Differential Equations test too hard. Yikes. Tough slog over the weekend going through two classes' tests and seeing all kinds of crazy things. Do your homework! It helps.

Nobody’s asked for it but my take on Charlie Kirk is that he was his generation’s Rush Limbaugh, Anne Coulter or Ben Shapiro. Interpret that any way you’d like. And don’t forget that Turning Point USA was originally founded for targeting educators for harassment, not evangelism.
