I was laid off from Slate yesterday, just about a month before I would've had one year at the company.

After a career boomeranging around the industry, I felt lucky to end up at Slate. I'm not sure what comes next yet, but I'm extremely grateful for my guild colleagues and their solidarity today.
On Monday morning, Slate was suddenly informed that six of its employees—including three editors, two of whom were members of the union—were being laid off, just months after four other staffers were also let go. The Slate Union's official statement reads as follows:
ready and willing to write about the taylor swift news for anyone who wants to hire me 😇

“It has brand recognition and consumer trust that only Santa Claus can compete with,” Christine Egan, head of CLASP, an international nonprofit dedicated to energy-efficient appliances, told the Washington Post.
Eliminating a famous program that cost just $32 million but delivers an estimated $40 billion in annual savings on utility bills just as our nation faces increasing costs & soaring demands has to be one of the dumbest public policy choices on a very competitive list.

Trampled to death by a horse called Pivot to Video
A colt named Journalism is the betting favorite in this weekend's Kentucky Derby. If metaphor carries the day, that poor horse is gonna break down and get boltgunned right to hell in front of millions.

News: House Minority Leader Jesse Topper (R., Bedford) says SEPTA should, at minimum, privatize its bus service as the agency faces a $213 million budget deficit. He argues this would protect against other services cuts while "relieving taxpayers" from subsidizing the agency.

I'm watching CNBC. These anchors are so angry. They really didn't believe he'd do it. They're actually just now, 10 years into this shit, realizing he's a maniac hellbent on revenge and there's no grand plan for the markets. Better late than never but holy shit.
